Less SMS fees for carriers through iMessage?

It seems that Apples new iMessage service which debuts in iOS 5 is very smoothly integrated into SMS composing. I guess the carriers won't like that - as well as the people from WhatsApp. Seems that Apple is gathering lots of good ideas from App Store Apps and copy-cat'ing them...
